Aftonbladet is one of Sweden’s largest and most influential news outlets, founded in 1830 by the visionary Lars Johan Hierta. The newsroom in Stockholm publishes thousands of articles, videos and investigations daily, reaching over 3.5 million Swedes - both online and in print.
With roots in the fight for freedom of the press and gender equality, the paper has a strong tradition of investigative journalism and civic engagement. The owners are the media group Schibsted (91%) and the trade union federation LO (9%), with Aftonbladet proudly defining its news journalism as politically independent while its editorial page maintains a social-democratic profile.
